Is the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner included in the Paris Museum Pass?

Yes — the Paris Museum Pass covers full entry to the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner, saving you €7 per person. No reservation required — open daily (unusually, this museum has no closing day). A single ticket or pass also gives access to the Musée Gustave Moreau within 72 hours.

About Musée Jean-Jacques Henner

Jean-Jacques Henner (1829–1905) was an Alsatian painter who won the Prix de Rome in 1858 and became one of the most fashionable portraitists of the Third Republic era. His dreamy, soft-focused female figures — particularly his celebrated Red Nymphs — made him famous in his lifetime but somewhat out of fashion after his death. The museum, created by his niece in 1921 in the former mansion of society painter Guillaume Dubufe, is one of the more tranquil and rarely crowded pass venues.

The pass covers the permanent collection of around 300 works across three floors: portraits, biblical and mythological paintings, landscapes, and the studio works that reveal his technique. The neo-Renaissance salon and winter garden on the ground floor were recently restored. Your pass (or individual ticket) also gives access to the Musée Gustave Moreau within 72 hours.

No reservation required. No reservation required. Open daily Monday to Sunday, 11am–6pm — one of the few pass museums with no weekly closing day.
Note: A single ticket or Museum Pass also grants access to the Musée Gustave Moreau (14 Rue de La Rochefoucauld, 9th arrondissement) within 72 hours. Keep your entrance ticket to claim this. The two museums together make a natural Symbolist art day-trip across the 9th and 17th arrondissements.

Practical Tips

Tip 1
Pair with the Musée Gustave Moreau on the same day — your Museum Pass covers both, and they form a natural Symbolist art circuit across the 9th and 17th arrondissements.
Tip 2
The museum is rarely crowded — a genuinely peaceful experience compared to the major pass venues. The neo-Renaissance salon on the ground floor is particularly well-restored and atmospheric.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — the pass covers full entry, saving €7 per person. No reservation required. The museum is open daily Monday to Sunday (no weekly closure day). Your pass also covers the Musée Gustave Moreau — the two can be visited on the same day.
Henner became particularly celebrated for his series of dreamy, soft-lit female figures — nymphs, bathers, and mythological women — characterised by their hazy sfumato technique and distinctive reddish-auburn hair. He produced many variants of this theme throughout his career and they became his signature. Critics later found them sentimental; today they are reassessed as distinctive examples of Symbolist figuration.
About 20 minutes on foot or a quick Metro ride (both are served by Line 3). They share a ticketing relationship — your Museum Pass covers both, and an individual ticket from either museum gives reduced or free entry to the other within a set number of days. Together they make a natural Symbolist art circuit and a full half-day in the quieter 9th and 17th arrondissements.
