How museumpassparisfrance.com collects, uses, and protects your data.

Last updated: March 2026

This privacy policy explains how museumpassparisfrance.com (“the site”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information about visitors. The site is owned and operated by Sandra Tanner, based in Auckland, New Zealand.

We take privacy seriously. We collect only what is necessary, do not sell data to third parties, and do not run advertising networks. This policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and applicable privacy laws in other jurisdictions where our visitors are based.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Contact enquiries: Email addresses and message content are used solely to respond to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your details with third parties.
  • Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised data from Google Analytics is used to understand which content is useful, which pages need updating, and how visitors navigate the site. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.
  • Affiliate attribution: When you click an affiliate link to Tiqets or GetYourGuide, tracking cookies allow those platforms to attribute a commission to this site if you make a purchase. We receive commission information only in aggregate — we do not receive your name, payment details, or booking information.

The legal basis for processing under GDPR is:

  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — for analytics and affiliate tracking, where our interest in understanding site performance does not override your privacy rights
  • Contract performance / responding to a request (Article 6(1)(b)) — for contact form responses
  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for non-essential cookies, where consent is obtained via our cookie banner

4. Third Parties

We share data with the following third-party services. We do not sell your data to any party.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymised usage data. Google may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Google Analytics data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We have IP anonymisation enabled.

Tiqets

When you click an affiliate link to Tiqets, you are directed to Tiqets’ website and subject to Tiqets’ Privacy Policy. Any purchase you make is between you and Tiqets — we do not receive your personal or payment data.

GetYourGuide

When you click an affiliate link to GetYourGuide, you are directed to GetYourGuide’s website and subject to GetYourGuide’s Privacy Policy. Any purchase you make is between you and GetYourGuide — we do not receive your personal or payment data.

WordPress and hosting

The site runs on WordPress. Our hosting provider processes server logs that may include IP addresses for security and performance purposes. These logs are not used for marketing and are retained only as long as operationally necessary.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. This site uses the following categories of cookies:

Cookie type Purpose Can be declined?
Essential cookies Required for the site to function (e.g. WordPress session cookies) No — necessary for operation
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) Track anonymised page views and visitor behaviour Yes — decline via cookie banner or browser settings
Affiliate tracking cookies (Tiqets, GetYourGuide) Attribute purchases to this site when you click an affiliate link Yes — decline via cookie banner or browser settings

You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Declining analytics or affiliate cookies does not affect your ability to use this site or to purchase a Museum Pass — it only affects whether we receive commission credit for the referral.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

These rights apply to EU/UK residents under GDPR and UK GDPR, and similar rights apply under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and various US state privacy laws.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@museumpassparisfrance.com. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for reasonable requests.

EU/UK residents: If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — for example the ICO (UK), the CNIL (France), or the relevant supervisory authority in your EU member state.

7. Data Retention

  • Contact emails: Retained for as long as necessary to resolve the query, then deleted. We do not maintain long-term email archives of visitor correspondence.
  • Google Analytics data: Retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, then automatically deleted per our retention settings.
  • Affiliate tracking data: Managed by Tiqets and GetYourGuide per their own retention policies.
  • Server logs: Retained by our hosting provider for a limited operational period, typically 30–90 days.

8. International Data Transfers

This site is operated from New Zealand and uses services (Google Analytics, Tiqets, GetYourGuide) that may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the following safeguards:

  • Google Analytics: processed under Google’s EU Standard Contractual Clauses and compliance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework
  • Tiqets: headquartered in the Netherlands (EEA) — see their privacy policy for transfer details
