Quick Answer

Yes — the Paris Museum Pass covers entry to the Palace of Versailles, the Estate of Trianon, and the Gardens. You must still book a free timed-entry ‘Passport Ticket’ slot at chateauversailles.fr before your visit — the pass alone is not sufficient for entry. Musical Fountain Shows (April–October, extra charge) are not included.

Is Château de Versailles Included in the Paris Museum Pass?

Yes — Château de Versailles is covered by the Paris Museum Pass. Entry costs €25 per person without the pass; with the pass it’s included at no extra cost. The pass covers the Palace, all State Apartments including the Hall of Mirrors, the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, the Queen’s Hamlet, and the Gardens.

Booking Your Timed Entry Slot

A timed-entry reservation is mandatory for the Palace of Versailles — all visitors including Museum Pass holders must book a free ‘Passport Ticket’ slot online at chateauversailles.fr before arriving.

Reservation required — do not arrive without one. Arriving at Versailles without a Palace reservation will result in being turned away at Entrance A, regardless of your Museum Pass. In peak season (April–October), popular morning slots fill 4–6 weeks ahead. Book at en.chateauversailles.fr as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.

Book at en.chateauversailles.fr/plan-your-visit/tickets-and-prices — select the Museum Pass option. The reservation is free; you are only securing your entry time.

Note: Musical Fountain Shows (Grandes Eaux Musicales — Saturdays, Sundays, some Tuesdays April–October) cost €11–€32 extra and are not included in the Museum Pass.

What to See — Collection Highlights

Versailles is a royal residence turned museum — 2,300 rooms, 800 hectares of gardens, and 90,000 works of art illustrating five centuries of French history.

Highlight 1
The Hall of Mirrors — 73 metres of gilded arches and 357 mirrors, where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919
Highlight 2
The King’s and Queen’s State Apartments — seven ceremonial rooms each, restored to their exact 18th-century condition
Highlight 3
The Estate of Trianon — Marie-Antoinette’s Petit Trianon, her private hamlet, and the Grand Trianon pink-marble residence, all included in the pass

Suggested Itinerary — Full Day

Versailles rewards a full day. Book the earliest Palace slot to see the Hall of Mirrors before crowds build, then explore the gardens and Trianon Estate in the afternoon.

9:00am
Palace — Hall of Mirrors and State Apartments
Enter through Entrance A with your pass and timed-slot QR code. Move directly to the Hall of Mirrors via the King’s State Apartments — do this first before crowds build.
11:00am
The Formal Gardens and Grand Canal
Exit into the formal gardens. The main axis runs 3km to the Grand Canal. The Fountain of Apollo and the parterre gardens are directly behind the palace.
1:00pm
Estate of Trianon — Petit Trianon and Queen’s Hamlet
Walk or take the petit train to the Trianon Estate, 30 minutes from the Palace on foot. Marie-Antoinette’s Petit Trianon, her private rustic hamlet, and the Grand Trianon are all included. No reservation needed.

Practical Tips

Tip 1
Book your Palace slot at opening time (9am) — the Hall of Mirrors before 10am is a completely different experience from mid-afternoon. Slots release 3 months ahead at chateauversailles.fr.
Tip 2
Give yourself a full day, not a half-day. The Palace takes 2–3 hours; the Trianon Estate is a 30-minute walk away and deserves another 1–2 hours.
Tip 3
Musical Fountain Show days (Saturdays and some Sundays, April–October) cost €11–€32 extra per person to access the gardens. Without paying, you still get Palace access but the gardens are restricted.
